Why did you become a peer tutor?
I want to help the juniors as much as I can, just as the people who once helped me.
What is your most memorable experience as a peer tutor/exam prep facilitator?
After several hard-working days for an exam with my tutee, the moment when we witnessed his progress and he said "love you man!"

My hobbies include fitness and reading.
Why did you become a peer tutor?
Mostly because I missed calculus but also because I enjoy teaching/tutoring and seeing students’ faces when they finally understand something they’ve been struggling with.
What valuable study tip can you give first-year students?
Avoid cramming at all costs. Instead, plan to focus on one chapter/section per day and review the material you’ve already studied. This way, it’ll all be in your long-term memory and will be a lot easier to recall on the exam.
Tell us one thing about you: Fun fact, hobbies, or pet peeve?
Once when I was about 10, I was so tired at Girl Guide Camp that I fell asleep half-lying against what I believe was a pile of canvas and propane bottles while we were watching Finding Nemo.

To help first-year student with their transition into university!
What valuable study tip can you give first-year students?
Study early to keep up with your classes. It’s really easy to fall behind, especially in online courses.

One of my favourite hobbies is writing.
Why did you become a peer tutor?
I joined the Management peer tutor program in my second year of study. I was trying to engage myself in different extracurricular activities when I saw the poster of this program on the wall of the IC building, so I joined in!
What valuable study tip can you give first-year students?
Taking notes is important. Your notes don't have to look very nice and neat, but the important thing is that you should understand your own notes and use them to review for exams.
Tell us one thing about you: Fun fact, hobbies, or pet peeve?
I am a foodie, I LOVE food and enjoy cooking. I have an Instagram account with more than 700 posts about food.
Why did you become a peer tutor?
I wanted to become a peer tutor because I have received a lot of help from my friends and senior students. I want to help first years fit in with the new environment and reach their goals.
What valuable study tip can you give first-year students?
Don't be shy. If you have questions, ask professors or friends until you get it. It is not an embarrassment, and professors always welcome your questions. You will get a much better grade if you make good use of office hours. Leverage the resources available within the university!

I like animals, especially dogs and cats. I always watch animal videos online!
Why did you become a peer tutor?
I really want to share my study tips with others. I also want to gain experience tutoring because I hope to be a TA to help more students.
What valuable study tip can you give first-year students?
In first year, the most important part is to practice and reinforce the basics instead of trying to solve those hard questions. As long as you grasp the basic knowledge, you can use it easily under any circumstance. I think first-year concepts are the most important part in university because your further study will require that knowledge.
Tell us one thing about you: Fun fact, hobbies, or pet peeve?
I am quite interested in music. Playing the piano and singing are my hobbies. Choosing a song I like then playing it on my own is enjoyable.
Why did you become a peer tutor?
I just want to do what I can to help first-years get through the transition smoothly. At the same time, it is a journey to gain friendship!
What is your most memorable experience as a peer tutor?
When I put my heart and soul into teaching and eventually the tutee recognizes my efforts, the sense of achievement is priceless.
What valuable study tip can you give first-year students?
Always remember to preview course materials in advance then organize notes after class. Consolidate your lecture notes on a regular basis.
Tell us one thing about you: Fun fact, hobbies, or pet peeve?
I'm a music lover who sings and plays the violin. I also enjoy dancing, traveling, and watching YouTube. I'm a big fan of spicy food, too!
Why did you become a peer tutor?
I have learned a lot from those conscientious TAs who are senior students in our program. I would like to do the same thing for our first-year students and help them understand the course materials.
What valuable study tip can you give first-year students?
Because of the transition to university, some people may not get used to autonomous learning. Also, the course material is certainly harder than that in high school! It is important to acquire solid basic knowledge in the first year. In addition to paying attention in class, previewing and reviewing course materials helps reinforce the learning. Don’t be afraid to ask for help if needed.

I like observing people in the public. It's interesting to observe everything around me and discover things that most people don’t pay attention to.
