Program Description: “The program enables professors at Canadian post-secondary institutions to pursue short-term research and/or teaching activities in Latin America and the Caribbean as a means of exploring, creating and advancing institutional partnerships in the areas of research, student mobility, joint programming, capacity building, and others.  The primary objective of the exchange is to create new institutional collaborations and/or to strengthen existing agreements between Canadian and non-Canadian post-secondary institutions eligible under the Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP).” Value: $7,000 maximum. Duration: 3 to 8 weeks. Activities: Teach and/or conduct research in ELAP-eligible countries. Program Description: The Scientific Collaboration Support Program will provide funding for new scientific projects jointly developed by French and Canadian teams that have never worked together before. Successful applicants are subject to receive funding from $8,000 to $15,000 CAD to two-year projects according to the needs expressed by the principal investigators. 90% of the fund will support the mobility of researchers and students affiliated with the project. Program Description: The Laidlaw Scholars provides funding to undergraduate students to pursue their own research interests at U of T or anywhere in the world. This scholarship program provides funds up to 25 undergraduate students per cycle and provides 16 months of programming that begins in the winter term of the first scholarship award year and ends in the fall term of the second scholarship award year. Undergraduate students will be provided up to $5,000 per summer term, and may apply for additional funding of up to $2,500 for travel expenses or up to $1,000 for lab expenses.

Program Description: The New Frontiers in Research Fund (NFRF) is a flagship initiative of the Tri-Agency (CIHR, NSERC and SSHRC) that support international, interdisciplinary research in three streams: Exploration, Transformation, and International. Applicants must submit a registration and application. Approved applicants are eligible to receive up to $250,000 per year (including indirect costs) for a maximum of two years. The duration of the grant must not exceed the duration of the Horizon Europe grant. The primary use of funds is to support research activities and travel, and not for the acquisition of major infrastructure or maintenance of infrastructure.  Application deadline: Two weeks after the review results from a Horizon Europe call are communicated to the project team, or October 3, 2022 (whichever is later).

Program Description: The 2023 International Joint Initiative for Research in Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation aims to further the design and implementation of co-produced adaptation and mitigation strategies for vulnerable groups most impacted by the effects of climate change. Funding available for Canadian researchers is $500,000 per year for three-years. This call is a two-stage application process with a mandatory of Notification of Intent to be submitted in the Convergence Portal.
