Will the annual Celebration of Distinguished Services take place in 2020?

The Celebration of Distinguished Services ceremony takes place annually in the spring/summer.  The health, safety and well-being of our community members is very important to us, therefore, due to our current circumstances with COVID, the celebrations have been postponed.

Why were the nomination periods for the 2020 Principal’s Service Excellence Awards and Administrative Awards extended from the initial deadline of March 13th to June 21st?

Due to our current circumstances, the Awards Planning Committee decided to extend the nomination periods for the Principal’s Service Excellence Awards, D.R. Campbell Merit Award, and Patrick Phillips Award for Staff Service. Members of our community reached out to express disappointment that they were unable to meet the deadline of March 13th, due to shifting priorities. Since the awards celebration is also postponed, this provides an opportunity for our community to continue acknowledging their colleagues during this time.

To allow for those who were unable to submit their nomination packages before the initial nomination deadline, we have opened up the nomination period again with a new deadline of June 21st, 2020, 5:00 PM. Those who submitted nominations prior to March 13th may also update their packages to include their nominee’s most recent accomplishments.

I want to recognize a peer for their contributions and service with respect to COVID-19, but they do not fall under any of the award categories listed above, where can I nominate, acknowledge, and recognize them?

Faculty and staff can recognize their colleagues for their contributions and service through the True Blue Recognition Program. True Blue informal recognitions highlight the practices of exemplary faculty and staff who make invaluable contributions to the University every day. For more information about the True Blue Recognition Program, please visit their website here.
