The Distinguished Service Excellence Award recognizes employees in managerial roles who have demonstrated sustained exceptional leadership competencies over a period of time, resulting in continuing high quality outcomes in their areas of responsibility that make a measurable, demonstrable impact beyond their particular units.

Eligibility
The Distinguished Service Excellence Award is open to those who are staff-appointed, non-probationary status. To be eligible for this award, candidates require a minimum of five (5) years of service in a leadership position at UTSC (PM6 and above). Candidates should have a professional record which demonstrates excellence throughout their career by way of service to the institution, accolades, awards and/ or honours obtained through the University of Toronto. The Distinguished Service Excellence Award is considered UofT Scarborough’s highest honour for administrative staff. Note that winners of this award will not be eligible for future awards in this category.

Selection Criteria Demonstrable record of:

• Building and sustaining collaborative partnerships and synergies across UTSC and/or UofT in support the University’s academic mission and the campus’ strategic goal of inclusive excellence;
• Championing equity, diversity, and inclusion at the campus or institutional level as an integral part of their leadership activities;
• Creating/implementing a program, service or initiative at UTSC that has had a positive, transformative and enduring impact at the campus, institutional and/or community level;
• Commitment to mentoring, supporting professional development, and growing the next generation of leaders;
• Promoting a shared and sustained vision for their teams, which fosters a collaborative and collegial culture to enhance the unit’s contribution to the campus’ priorities;
• Empathetic leadership that is supportive of team members, advances their personal growth, engenders a genuine sense of belonging.
