We are delighted to share the University of Toronto Scarborough Teaching Stream Working Group Report — a document that aims to support successful careers and a true sense of belonging and thriving for members of the Teaching Stream and, in turn, enhance the teaching and learning activities that are central to the U of T Scarborough’s mission and international reputation.
This report reflects a collective effort. Following a call for nomination, the working group was formed and convened in January 2022 with a twofold goal: to identify barriers and opportunities to pedagogical and professional achievement, and to support the success of Teaching Stream faculty across a range of career stages. After months of meetings and consultation, the working group produced a report that offers 21 recommendations across six categories: institutional support, mentorship, leadership, career review & evaluation, workload, and scholarship & research. We thank the members of the working group as well as internal and external stakeholders who contributed in the consultation process.
The appointment of Professor Aarthi Ashok as Special Advisor, Teaching Stream Faculty Success, reflects the commitment to engaging with this report and responding to its recommendations, and Professor Ashok’s experience and expertise will be key to enacting the report’s recommendations.
