Established in memory of Arthur J. Viseltear, MPH, PhD, a former chair of the Medical Care Section and a historian at Yale University, the prize reflects a legacy of excellence in the field.
Selected by a committee comprising faculty from Columbia’s Sociomedical Sciences Center for History and Ethics of Public Health, Professor Birn has demonstrated exceptional dedication and expertise in advancing understanding of the historical dimensions of public health.
