Fire Safety

Campus Safety Operations manages and maintains the monitored life safety systems at UTSC.  The life safety system includes fire alarm panels, detection devices, sprinklers and specialized suppression systems, as well as a campus wide emergency mass notification system

Working with our partners in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS),  Design and Construction (DCM) and Facilities Management (FMD), and following the requirements of the Ontario Fire Code. We work in consultation with end users and code consultants to design and install life safey systems to support departments in creating a safe environment for our community.

Campus Safety Operations provides expertise and consultation during the design phase of renovation and capital projects.  We provide oversight during installation and commissioning of lief safety equipment. 

Campus Safety Operations responds to all fire alarms on campus and assists Toronto Fire Services when attending an emergency scene.

Campus Safety Operations is also responsible for ensuring we are compliant with the Ontario Fire Code and conducts the required fire drills for all buildings on campus.
