Emergency Phones

There are approximately 100 Emergency phones located across the UTSC Campus.  They can be found inside large lecture halls, study spaces, elevators, elevator lobbies, areas of refuge, parking lots and various outdoor locations.

Emergency phones are programmed to directly call Campus Safety Communications if you are in distress or experiencing any other type of emergency.  Once the call has been initiated, all emergency phones are programmed to automatically relay your location to dispatch.

Campus Safety Special Constables will attend the location of an emergency phone call 24/7, even if there is no information provided from the caller.

To use an emergency phone, press the "call" button on the front of the device - you do not need to keep the button pressed down.  You will hear a dial tone and then be connected to a Campus Safety Communications Operator.

When possible, please provide the following information to the responding operator:

  1. Your location
  2. The nature of your emergency
  3. Your name

Emergency phones are tested by our Special Constables and by Building Patrol every week.
