Zhuorui Cai – The Republic

Zhuorui Cai

Abstract

I showcase a short film we had made in NMEB09H3 titled “The Republic”. I wore many hats during this process. I was the director, screenwriter, cameraperson, editor as well as the original theme song creator. This film is titled "The Republic", from the reference point of it representing utopia, inspired by a book by Plato called "The Republic".

The main questions we explore in the film are – what would you do if you learnt that your life is built on a set of false representations? How far would you go to protect this illusion – the utopia?
