SoundLife Scarborough Launch and Symposium

Join us on Friday, May 5, 6pm-10pm for the launch of SoundLife Scarborough, the centre for music and community engagement at the University of Toronto Scarborough. Our projects foster healthy communities through participatory music-making; support community partnerships and community-engaged research excellence grounded in the principle of reciprocity; and inspire students in developing creative, flexible, and participatory approaches to music-making as a lifelong practice.

On Saturday, May 6, 9am-6pm, SoundLife Scarborough will host “Mapping Music Pathways: Access and Opportunities in Community, Post-Secondary, and Public School Music." This symposium considers music-making across lifespan and sectors, toward action in removing existing barriers and creating accessible pathways for all who wish to participate. The symposium will consist of participatory music-making activities, interactive “music pathways mapping stations”, and three themed panels:

1) The Purpose(s) and Potential of Public Music Education

2) Opening Access Opportunities in Post-Secondary Education

3) The Community Music Ecosystem

Both in-person events are free and open to all.

Additional details will be posted on the SoundLife Scarborough website: www.soundlifescarborough.ca.

Note that registration closes on April 26, 2023.
