Call for Student Projects

Winter 2020

Proposal deadline: Monday, November 18, 2019

The EDA Committee in the Department of Arts, Culture and Media (ACM) at University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC) is looking to fund creative student-led artistic and/or research projects for students enrolled in any program within the Department of Arts, Culture and Media.

What Is EDA?

EDA is an exciting new initiative based on a long-standing endowment partnership between the Federal Government and the University of Toronto. It is an integral part of the ACM and its mandate is to promote diversity of all kinds, including diversities of race, gender, socio-economic status, sexual orientation or identity, age, ability or disability, religion and aesthetic or traditions of practice. Through various kinds of student support, EDA aims to increase understanding across difference, to challenge social and institutional barriers to equity, and to empower students to champion diversity in their professional pursuits.

Eligible Projects and Grant Amounts

Eligible projects include new individual or collaborative student projects from across the ACM Department that help to further the aims of the EDA mandate. Projects can be creative and/or research oriented and from any discipline. EDA funds a number of placement bursaries for Arts Management students, for which there is a separate call. Students are eligible to receive funding if they are officially enrolled as full-time or part-time students in an ACM Program in the Summer 2019, Fall 2019 and Winter 2020 terms. Students may submit only one application. If you are part of a collective, one person needs to be named as the lead applicant.

Students can submit grant requests for up to $1,000. Project funds must be spent by April 1, 2020.

2019-2020 EDA Committee

Yael Brotman (ACM Faculty), Elliott Leffler (ACM Faculty), Lynn Tucker (ACM Faculty, EDA Chair), Sherry Yu (ACM Faculty), Angela Tran (ACM Communications), and Manolo Lugo (ACM Programming and Events), and a student representative will evaluate proposals and make recommendations for funding to the ACM Chair.
