Jessica Bytautas receives UTSC Teaching Award

A Department of Health and Society Instructor has been honoured in the 2023 UTSC Teaching Awards.

Jessica Bytautas received the award in the Unit 1 Course Instructor Category. Jessica is a PhD candidate in Social and Behavioural Health Sciences at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health whose doctoral dissertation is supported by a Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarship from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC)

Jessica has taught a variety of courses at DHS including HLTB40H3: Health Policy and Health Systems; HLTC43H3: Politics of Canadian Health Policy; HLTD01H3: Directed Readings in Health Studies, “End-of-life care for refugee and immigrant populations;” and HLTC29H3S: Special Topics in Health Studies, “Death and Dying in the Contemporary World.”

“Teaching in the Department of Health and Society has been an absolute pleasure and privilege,” said Jessica. “How lucky am I to get to work with such brilliant and capable students! I am grateful for the tremendous mentorship and support I’ve received from the department, and for the opportunity to cultivate my passion for teaching. It is an honour to receive this award and one that I will cherish for years to come.”
