I've been granted the incredible privilege to complete my 10 month IDS co-op placement in Ethiopia's capital of Addis Ababa. I will be working for Population Council, which has been working with vulnerable adolescents throughout the country for over 20 years. The organization has engaged young girls in education on HIV and reproductive health, which are also the Council's main research focuses in terms of the intersection of development and health issues. I will be working to support qualitative studies on married adolescent girls, their barriers to family planning and HIV awareness, as well as female adolescent migration. My own research interests hope to explore labour migration amongst young women. In addition to my placement and research, I ultimately hope to gain a better understanding of the dynamics between returning diaspora and development. See y'all in a bit.
