Hello! My name is Astrid and this September I will be going to Turrialba, Costa Rica to do an internship with the Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center (CATIE) for 10 months.
CATIE is a research and graduate education center in the areas of agriculture, conservation and sustainable resource use. Its members include a wide range of Latin American countries, such as Costa Rica, and other institutes like the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA). The work I will be doing during my internship will be within the fieldwork of the Follow-up Long-term Experiment in Agroforestry Systems in Coffee. I am very excited to learn more about coffee agroforestry systems, and explore the political economy of coffee agroforestry production in the Costa Rican context!
