Advisory Committee on Physical Accessibility (ACPA)

Advisory Committee on Physical Accessibility (ACPA) Mission:

The University of Toronto Scarborough ACPA committee is mandated to ensure the physical environment of U of T Scarborough is accessible for persons with disabilities with the ultimate goal of creating a barrier free design of the campus.

Composition of the Committee:

  • Chief Administrative Officer
  • At least two students with disabilities
  • A SCSU Representative
  • Director of AccessAbility Services or Associate Director as designate in absence of Director
  • Disability Consultant, AccessAbility Services
  • Representatives from Facilities Management and Human Resources
  • Alumni

Role of Members:

  1. Responsible for representing their department's/group accessibility concerns.
  2. Attend meetings as scheduled in order to receive, consider and respond to individual, group or institutional concerns regarding accessibility issues on the campus.
  3. Act generally as an advocate on campus for persons with disabilities and to make the campus community more aware of accessibility issues.

Meeting Information 

  • Meetings are generally held every September, November, March, and May. 

  • Meetings will be held at an accessible location at the University of Toronto Scarborough campus or held virtually

 Funding  

  • An annual capital commitment per year is allocated to the Committee to use towards barrier-free design improvements.  

  • An annual student levy of $1.00 per Term per FTE (Full Time Equivalent) is designated to the Committee to use towards barrier-free design improvements.

  • Accessibility is budgeted into new builds and renovation projects. Therefore those project budgets are separate from the Advisory Committee budget, and go beyond the scope of the committee.
