Indigenous House

Opening:

2024

Description:

Indigenous House exterior - artist rendering

Indigenous elders and community members are working with the University of Toronto Scarborough to envision the design and uses of a new Indigenous House on campus.

Indigenous House symbolizes the University of Toronto Scarborough’s recognition of its responsibility to strengthen and rehabilitate its relationship with Indigenous peoples. It will be a highly visible and integral part of our academic mission, located in the heart of our campus.

It will be an iconic building, but one that is welcoming, inclusive and respectful of striking a balance with nature. It will connect to the surrounding landscape and environment.

The goal is to create a place for learning, ceremony and social connection and that learning will be tactile with many opportunities to have teachings inside and out.
