Project: DCM Open Office Pilot

Area: 72sm

Date Occupied: September 2020

Description: Space Plan 2.0 (2017-20), enabled by the relocation of program into the new Environmental Science and Chemistry building, provided for a cascading series of new projects across campus.  In this case, the Design and Construction Management Office was relocated from temporary quarters in a portable building to easily accessible space in the Science Wing and in close proximity to Facilities Management with whom the unit frequently works.  The design acts as a pilot project in open work-space planning that includes multiple types of support spaces including quiet tuck-in rooms that allow for staff in open workstations to ‘tuck in’ for extra quiet and privacy. Operable windows were introduced to give occupants agency in temperature control and sustainable felt wall-covering has been included to assist with sound absorption.
