Recent Grad Won Best Cinematography Award

The gun, the gin, and the two masked man film

ACM student Dinitha Vithanage is the writer, director, and producer behind the short film The Gun, the Gin, and the Two Masked Men. He is also the composer behind the film as well as the Director of Photography for which he won the award for Best Cinematography at the U of T Film Festival 2021 at the University of Toronto. The film is an homage to the classic hard-boiled detective stories in the style of film noir. The cast and crew of this self-financed project were comprised of friends and colleagues who worked tirelessly to bring this story to life despite the budgetary restrictions. Dinitha is currently at the post-production stage of his next short film titled For a Coffin Full of Gold, an exciting new homage to the spaghetti westerns. He encourages the students at UTSC who are interested in acting and filmmaking to reach out in hopes of collaborating on future projects.

Congratulations Dinitha! We are so proud of our multitalented students in ACM.
