Dr. Andy Smith is the President and CEO of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre where he leads over 12,000 staff, physicians, researchers and learners and an annual budget of more than $1.4 billion. Prior to his current role, Dr. Smith served as Sunnybrook’s Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Executive. With a long established career as a surgeon and a recognized leader in the management of colorectal cancer, Dr. Smith is intensely passionate about improving healthcare. He has been involved for many years in quality improvement initiatives in Ontario and is passionately interested in healthcare leadership, innovation and the evolution of the healthcare system in Canada. Dr. Smith is the immediate past Chair for the Toronto Academic Health Sciences Network (TAHSN), and is on the Board of Directors for ORNGE, Public Health Ontario (PHO), and HealthCareCAN.

 

Dr. Patricia Houston, MD, MEd, FRCPC:

Professor Patricia Houston is Interim Dean of the Temerty Faculty of Medicine from September 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024. Dr. Houston is a Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. She was appointed Vice Dean, Medical Education in July 2020, As Vice Dean, Medical Education, Dr. Houston is responsible for oversight of the Temerty Faculty of Medicine MD Program, Integrated Physician Scientist Training Program, Postgraduate Medical Education, Continuing Professional Development and Office of Learner Affairs. She is also a Staff Anesthetist at St. Michael’s Hospital, Unity Health Toronto.

 

Dr. Notisha Massaquoi:
 

Dr. Notisha Massaquoi has been a powerful advocate for health equity in the Canadian health system. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health and Society at the University of Toronto, Scarborough with cross appointments in the Faculty of Social Work and the Faculty of Medicine. She is also the founder and director of the Black Health Equity Lab (The BHEL) which conducts community-based health research and works with Black communities to develop advocacy tools, strategies and programs to improve health outcomes, wellbeing and success in Canadian systems.  Her early health leadership career established several health service organizations which serve Black communities in Canada, and she developed and served for two decades as the Executive Director of Women's Health in Women's Hands Community Health Centre in Toronto – the only Community Health Centre in North America specializing in primary healthcare for Black and racialized women. She has consulted globally with the United Nations Social Development Forum on racism and its impact on workforces and she is considered one of Canada's leading experts in developing equity responsive organizations.
