The Feeding City lab, led by Prof Jo Sharma and graduate interns, collaborates to re/build food sovereignty through research and action on resilient, climate-smart food and farming futures, with grassroots knowledge and actionist networks who connect food producer empowerment and consumer education with socio-ecological sustainability and cultural heritage, with a particular focus on the regions of Tamil Nadu and Kerala in Southern India. The team undertakes regular field visits to study sustainable rice and millet, seed saving, and seed exchange, and culinary heritage in collaboration with diverse networks including CREATE, Thanal, CIKS, and the Women’s Collective.
