Incoming Assistant Professor

Qizhen Zhang is an Assistant Professor in Computer Science at the University of Toronto with appointments in the Department of Computer and Mathematical Sciences (Scarborough Campus) and the Department of Computer Science (St. George Campus). He received his Ph.D. in the Department of Computer and Information Science at the University of Pennsylvania and then spent a year in industry at Microsoft Research, Redmond. Qizhen is broadly interested in data management, computer systems/networking, and new applications enabled by these data infrastructures. His research has been bridging cloud data systems and data center networks to address emerging challenges in hyperscale data processing. His work appears at top-tier database and systems/networking conferences such as SIGMOD and SIGCOMM and is recognized with 2022 Morris and Dorothy Rubinoff Award for the best Computer Science Ph.D. dissertation at the University of Pennsylvania.
