We academics dedicate our lives to sharing our knowledge, to thinking and writing. So I humbly offer my thoughts here in a way that presents a unique opportunity to be engaged with you. While I don’t pretend my insights are the final word, I am keen to share stories with you through my eyes. At the second U. S. Presidential debate—a town hall-style forum—Gorbah Hamed asked how, with Islamophobia on the rise, the candidates would help people like her deal with the consequences of being labeled a threat to the country. It was a shocking, though sadly not a surprising, question.
