Our Minor Program in English and Chinese Translation (ECT) is designed for students, fluent in both English and Chinese, who are interested in translation. It will equip students with the fundamental theoretical knowledge and practical skills required in this profession.
ECT program is exclusively available at the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC). It is now an unlimited minor program (SCMIN0180). You can add it on ACORN at any time.
English is the most widespread language in the world while Chinese is the most widely spoken language. English and Chinese are two of the six official languages used in the UN. Translation is an important way to master these two languages and also a much-needed skill in today’s globalized world. It is a profession which requires critical thinking and an academic level of wide-ranging knowledge.
