Biography

Maud Pillet received her B.A. and her M.A. (DEA) from the University of Toulouse Le Mirail and her Ph.D. from the University of Toronto (2011). From 2006 to 2011 She taught at the University of Toronto (St. George, Mississauga and Scarborough campuses). In 2011, she received an award for "Excellence in teaching" from the department of Language Studies at the University of Toronto Mississauga campus. Since 2011, she has been a Lecturer at the University of Toronto, Scarborough campus. Her area of research spreads from Nineteenth Century French Literature to short stories and Dark Romanticism. Her current research focuses on the rhetoric and poetic analyses of the madness through the scientific, religious and artistic figures in Villiers de L'Isle-Adam, Barbey d'Aurevilly and Théophile Gautier.
