Combined Degree Program - Honours Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Arts and Master of Teaching

HBA in French + Master of Teaching
The UTSC Combined Degree Programs (CDP) with OISE's Master of Teaching (MT) are designed for UTSC students interested in combining their bachelor's degree with a master's degree and professional teacher education.
 
CDPs are ideal for UTSC student who want to become excellent teachers and also prepare to be the next generation of educational leaders.
 
UTSC CDPs allow exceptional students to gain conditional access to the Master of Teaching program early in their undergraduate studies, clearing a pathway to the teaching profession.
 

The HBA/HBSc-MT Combined Degree Programs will: 

  • Give you the opportunity to acquire the content background you’ll need for the teaching profession
  • Give you an opportunity to gain early graduate admission to the Master of Teaching program offered by OISE
  • Provide you with a clear pathway towards the teaching profession, and access to an enriched combination of academic programs
  • Give you the opportunity to earn two University of Toronto degrees
  • Give you the opportunity to be recommended to the Ontario College of Teachers for a Certificate of Qualification, certifying you to teach in Ontario schools
  • Guide you in gaining experience working with groups of children

What are the Combined Degree Programs for the HBA/HBSc and MT?

 
These Combined Degree Programs invite students to gain early admission to the Masters of Teaching offered by the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. These programs give you the best of both worlds –allowing you to pursue the undergraduate programs you’re most passionate about and get early admission to one of the most prestigious schools of education.

Admission Requirements?

  1. Must be registered at UTSC in Year 3 of one of the 50 CDP-eligible HBA or HBSc programs
  2. Have an average grade equivalent of B+ (GPA 3.3) or higher in Year 2 of undergraduate studies
  3. Be on course to complete the pre-requisites for two teaching subjects, finishing half of the required credits for each subject by the end of Year 3
  4. Meet other qualifications as specified by the MT program, such as a police record check and having relevant teaching experiences

 

Teaching Subjects

Applicants must have two teaching subjects in their undergrad degree. Applicants must complete 6 full credits (12 half-credit courses) for the first teaching subject and three full credits (6 half-credit courses) for the second teaching subject)
 
(Note: French and Science require 6.0 credits)
