ETRAC student survey set to launch October 23

The annual Educause Technology Research in the Academic Community (ETRAC) student survey will be sent to 1,000 randomly selected University of Toronto Scarborough undergraduate students on October 23, 2023, marking the third year the University has participated in the survey.

The ETRAC survey asks questions about student experiences with the technologies and services provided by the University. The survey data informs IT service providers and leadership with essential metrics needed to assist in making informed decisions about technology investments – investments that will resonate with student needs, expectations and experiences at U of T.

This year, a separate survey link will be provided for each campus and data will be available at the campus level. Results of the survey will be made publicly available in 2024 on the ITS PGA webpage.

This survey is a standardized tool that gathers student feedback from U of T and other universities in the US and around the world. Participating in the Educause survey permits access to comparative data from other universities. U of T’s Research Ethics Board has reviewed and approved the survey.

What students should expect

On October 23, the survey email invitation will be distributed by the U of T Registrar’s portal, with a link that will redirect students to the Educause survey instrument. The survey takes 10 to 15 minutes to fill out and recipients will have until December 15 to complete it. There is no personally identifiable information collected and the survey is anonymous.

All students who receive the survey invitation are encouraged to participate to have a say in the deployment of technology at U of T.

Students may contact Ravneet Kaur ravneet.kaur@utoronto.ca or the Registrar’s Office if they have any questions about the survey.
