In this talk, Judith Thompson will discuss the new form of theatre that she is practicing. Contrary to the traditional seminar format, she will guide the audience through a talk in a theatrical format, with real people telling real stories in real time.

Bio

Judith Thompson is Professor of English and Theatre Studies at the University of Guelph. She completed her undergraduate degree in English at Queen’s University and attended the National Theatre School of Canada after. A highly accomplished playwright, director, screenwriter, actor and producer, Judith Thompson is the author of various renowned published works. Her plays include I am Yours, The Palace of the End, The Crackwalker and Lion in the Streets. Her television movies include Turning to Stone and Life with Billy. Her feature films include Lost and Delirious and Perfect Pie. Body and Soul, Sick, Rare and Borne are collectives featuring real people telling their stories in a shaped and curated, and physical piece of theatre. Borne recently won the Disability Arts Award.

Judith Thompson is an Officer of the Order of Canada, and a proud recipient of numerous awards including two Governor General Awards, Toronto Arts Award, two Chalmers Awards, Walter Carsen Performing Arts Award and the Susan Smith Blackburn Award for a Woman Writing in English.
