The Water Pathways group at the University of Toronto addresses pertinent, real-world problems of water quality and quantity by conducing cutting-edge research with key stakeholders in government, the community and academia.

Mission Statement

  • The Water Pathways group is  focused on how to best optimize the urban ecosystem services of the Great Lakes that control our water security, affect fish habitat, influence transportation, and allow for recreation.
  • We aim to work with various government partners by leveraging the university’s resources (scientific expertise, field and lab equipment, and high quality undergraduate and graduate student researchers) to tackle real-world local problems.
  • Our goal is to understand the transport and fate of nutrients, pollution, sediments and biology between rivers and near-shore zones of the Great Lakes.
