In its second year, this campus tradition had something fun in store for individuals of all ages. Guests were captivated by a wealth of entertainment and learning opportunities, free and accessible to all. This immersive event not only brought UTSC students, staff, faculty, and librarians together to create a welcoming and dynamic experience but also forged a deep sense of community with the people of Scarborough.
The day was filled with diverse festivities, from local market vendors to exclusive lectures, such as 'Frank Stronach on Empowering a Prosperous Future,' thrilling carnival rides, including a Ferris wheel, and an array of food trucks. Guests enjoyed activations across the campus, including a science engagement area and cultural experiences like Chinese Calligraphy. The Family Zone was abuzz with the laughter of the little ones, thanks to talented face painters, whimsical balloon twisters, bouncy castles, lawn games, and a delightful trackless train. Homecoming 2023 was a day brimming with fun and excitement, inviting everyone to come together and celebrate the unique spirit of our community.
Student Life took center stage with engaging activities, including games and a 360-degree photo booth experience. Residence Life joined in with a paint-and-sip event and a cozy bonfire. The Entertainment Zone hosted "UTSC's Got Talent," and as night fell, DJ Clymaxxx and Devo Brown brought the house down with a dance party tailored to the student community.
The Alumni Lounge provided a platform for networking, fostering connections among alumni and welcoming alumni-driven affinity groups, including the Geography and City Studies Alumni Network and the UTSC Black Alumni Network, contributing to UTSC’s missions and values.
A key theme for this year’s event was sustainability, with academic and family zones showcasing eco-friendly efforts, such as the Eco Scavenger Hunt and waste ambassadors supporting waste diversion efforts.
The lively blend of academic excellence, spirited student life, and heartfelt alumni engagement exemplified the campus's commitment to Inclusive Excellence. We eagerly await UTSC Homecoming 2024, confident it will further enrich our community.
