UTSCAA Exploring Creativity Series: In Conversation with Roy Ratnavel

Event Details

Roy Ratnavel (BA UTSC 1997) has had an incredible story as an immigrant. Born in Sri Lanka and Tamil by heritage, he became a political prisoner at the age of seventeen. After his miraculous release from prison, he arrived in Canada at eighteen with $50 in his pocket and left behind all of his family and friends. He then rose from the mailroom to the executive suite of the country's largest independent asset management company, CI Global Asset Management.

Join us for a conversation with Roy about writing his first book "Prisoner #1056" which shares his incredible journey.

This event is free to attend. However, copies of "Prisoner #1056" will be available for sale after the talk, and Roy will be doing a post-talk book signing.

This event is part of the UTSCAA Exploring Creativity Series and is supported by the UTSC Alumni Association and sponsored by Manulife and TD Insurance through the Pillar Sponsorship program.
