The University of Toronto Scarborough Alumni Awards are among the highest honours the University of Toronto Scarborough bestows on individuals whose extraordinary contributions and achievements embody the values of University of Toronto Scarborough Campus and the wider University community. This suite of awards is administered through the Development and Alumni Relations Office at the University of Toronto Scarborough to celebrate and elevate the incredible contributions of our diverse alumni community, along with highlighting the staff and faculty who promote and cherish alumni relationships and advance the mission of the Development and Alumni Relations Office.

 

Nominations are now open! The deadline to nominate an alum is May 3, 2024.

 

SUBMIT A NOMINATION


Definition of an Alumnus/a:

For the purpose of the University of Toronto Scarborough Alumni Awards the following definition will be used:

The individual must either be a graduate of the University of Toronto Scarborough or must be an individual who has successfully completed one year of full-time study or four (4) full credits and is no longer enrolled at the University of Toronto Scarborough.

General Nomination Guidelines for all Award Categories

  • Nominations are confidential.
  • All nominees must be alumni of the University of Toronto Scarborough campus (refer to the above noted alumnus/a definition. The expectation is for the University of Toronto Scarborough Faculty and Staff Award for Alumni Engagement, where nominees do not need to be an alumnus/a.
  • Nominees can self-nominate with the support of an external reference.
  • Donor information is not considered as a selection criteria for individual awards except in exceptional circumstances. For example, the donation was transformative (or otherwise uncommon) in some way and is considered along with other significant merits. 
  • Nominees cannot be employed in a full time continuing or full-time contract position at the University of Toronto Scarborough for the University of Toronto Scarborough Alumni Award Outstanding Achievement, University of Toronto Scarborough Young Alumni Award for Outstanding Achievement, University of Toronto Scarborough Inclusive Excellence Alumni Award, but can be for the University of Toronto Scarborough Faculty and Staff Award for Alumni Engagement.
  • Current sitting politicians are not eligible.
  • Nominations can be carried forward for one year at the discretion of the selection committee.
  • Information not included in the nomination package will not be considered unless it is public information.
  • The selection committee is not responsible for additional research related to the nomination.
  • Nominations may be submitted by any individual, independently or on behalf of a group or institution.
  • Nominees can only be nominated in one category per year.
  • All awards are administered by the University of Toronto Scarborough Alumni Awards Selection Committee.
     

UTSC Alumni Award Categories

This award is given to an individual who demonstrates outstanding achievement in their professional lives or in their significant contribution to their career or to social and community service causes in a way that inspires or enables others to reach their full potential.

This award is given to an individual under the age of 40 who demonstrate outstanding achievement in their professional lives or in their significant contribution to social and community service causes in a way that inspires others to reach their full potential.

This award is given to an individual who demonstrates outstanding commitment and made significant contributions in the area of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.

This award is given to a Faculty or Staff member who actively involves alumni in their department in a way that builds connections between UTSC alumni and UTSC students and inspires students to reach their potential and realize their aspirations.
