INDIVIDUAL APPLICATION FORM: 

Distinguished Scholar Award Application Form

 

Program Purpose

The purpose of the University of Toronto Scarborough Distinguished Scholar Award is to recognize and encourage the research activities and achievements of established researchers at U of T Scarborough. The award is open to all tenured professorial faculty (including teaching-stream) with a primary appointment at UTSC, who are at least 6 years post-tenure, and who have demonstrated exceptional research achievements and impact in any field(s) of knowledge. The extent to which their research has had, and is bound to have, an impact beyond academia (including community, culture, policy, professional practice, or the economy) will also be considered. The award recognizes individuals who contribute in a significant way to the research profile and academic environment of U of T Scarborough.

 

A Selection Committee chaired by the Vice-Principal Research and Innovation and composed of members of the U of T Scarborough Research Advisory Board will assess the nominations and recommend the top candidate to the Vice-President & Principal of U of T Scarborough. The Committee may decline to bestow the award in any given competition year if a suitable candidate has not been nominated. The Selection Committee will determine the balance between quality of the research and potential impact of the award on the research program, a determination that may vary from year to year.

 

Award value

One award will be available in each of the following streams: A) Sciences, and B) Social Sciences & Humanities. Each award has a monetary component of $2,500.

New Scholar Award Application Form 

Program Purpose

The purpose of the UTSC New Scholar Award is to recognize and encourage the outstanding research activities and achievements of early career faculty at the University of Toronto Scarborough. The program aims to support and celebrate research that has had, and is bound to have, not only scholarly significance but also an impact beyond academia. The award is open to all full-time professorial faculty (including teaching-stream) with a primary appointment at UTSC who are within 10 years of receiving their PhD or terminal degree. The award recognizes individuals who contribute in a significant way to the research profile and academic environment of U of T Scarborough.

 

A Selection Committee chaired by the Vice-Principal Research and Innovation and composed of members of the U of T Scarborough Research Advisory Board will assess the nominations and recommend the top candidate to the Vice-President & Principal of U of T Scarborough. Principal's Excellence Award for Scholarship Application Form

Program Purpose

The purpose of the University of Toronto Scarborough Principal’s Excellence Award for Scholarship is to recognize the outstanding research achievements of established scholars at the University of Toronto Scarborough and is open to all full-time tenured professorial faculty with a primary appointment at UTSC. Nominees are expected to have compiled a distinguished record of nationally and internationally recognized, impactful research and scholarly activity, achieving pre-eminence in their field and/or impact beyond academia (e.g., on society, culture, policy, professional practice, the economy).

 

A Selection Committee chaired by the Vice-Principal Research and Innovation and composed of members of the U of T Scarborough Research Advisory Board will assess the nominations and recommend the top candidate to the Vice-President & Principal of U of T Scarborough. Principal's Impact Award Application Form

Program Purpose

The purpose of the Principal’s Impact Award is to support the integration of UTSC’s engagement with the broader society by identifying and celebrating outstanding examples of scholarship that have a positive impact on the inclusion and empowerment of external stakeholders. The award is open to all research- or teaching-stream faculty members, and all Librarians, who have held a full-time primary appointment at UTSC for at least one year, and who have demonstrated excellence in impactful scholarship beyond academia. This award recognizes research scholarship and knowledge mobilization achievements and or/ value-added for the partner organization(s). The impacts of the engaged scholarship activities may include social and economic development, environmental sustainability, improved educational or health systems, and social equity.

UTSC Undergraduate Research & Creative Prize Application Form

Program Purpose

The purpose of UTSC Undergraduate Research & Creative Prize is to honour UTSC students who have excelled in research, scholarship and creative activities. This program recognizes the research and creative activities of undergraduate students and their overall contribution to the University of Toronto Scarborough. It also illustrates the role of the library in students’ creative process and research activities. It is open to all students who have completed their first year of study and are currently enrolled in a UTSC undergraduate degree program. Students need to submit projects that have been completed within the previous year and that demonstrate a meaningful engagement with UTSC library resources and/or librarians. The UTSC Undergraduate Research & Creative Prize is a financial prize sponsored jointly by the UTSC Library and UTSC Office of the Vice-Principal Research and Innovation.

The Judging Committee shall consist of UTSC faculty members and representatives from the Office of the Vice-Principal Research and Innovation. The judges evaluate the projects according to the Selection Criteria stated below in four categories: A) Humanities, B) Social Sciences, C) Sciences, and D) Creative.

Prize Value

Up to 4 (four) prizes may be given annually, distributed in the following categories: A) Humanities, B) Social Sciences, C) Sciences and D) Creative. Each prize has a monetary component of $1,000.

Deadline

There is one submission deadline per academic year (on or about April 15). Application form and packages for the UTSC Undergraduate Research Prize will be submitted to researchoffice.utsc@utoronto.ca.
