Title: The Housing Situation - Getting Worse Before it gets Better and the Role and Limitations of Municipal Officials in Light of the Strong Mayor Powers

Bio:
Diane has an undergraduate degree in History and Peace and Conflict Studies from McMaster University, and a Master’s Degree in Canadian and Indigenous Studies from Trent University. Diane worked for the (former) Ontario Ministry of Aboriginal Affairs, the Peterborough Poverty Reduction Network, and Trent University, where she was elected Chief Steward and later President of CUPE (Canadian Union of Public Employees) Local 3908. 

Diane was elected as Ward 3 City Councillor in 2014, and in 2018 was elected Mayor of Peterborough. Diane "retired" from municipal politics in 2022, though she continues to stay involved in local politics as an engaged resident. Diane currently works as a Senior Research Officer for CUPE National.
