International students' awareness of the context and histories of Indigenous communities in Scarborough

Inas Mustafa, Thamilini Vigneswaran, Isaiah John and Tekel Gabriel focused on the experiences of international students in Scarborough.  They found that

prior to moving to Scarborough our participants received no information about Indigenous peoples. Once in Scarborough participants' prime source of information came from their post-secondary education courses, however, that information was often limited. We also discovered that making connections with Indigenous communities allowed our participants to understand current struggles. We recommend that 1) Universities adjust and enhance their curriculum to widespread topics about Indigenous histories and communities 2) Intercultural exchange.
