• hydrodynamics under shoaling and breaking waves
• sediment transport in wave-current boundary layers
• hydrodynamics and sediment transport in rip current systems
• shoreface morphodynamics, especially nearshore bars
• bedforms and sedimentary structures under waves and currents
• models of coastal sediment transport
• coastal erosion and sedimentation, both marine & lacustrine
• contaminant transport and sequestration in sediments
• environmental impact in the coastal zone
