Last week, the University of Toronto Scarborough hosted an Entrepreneur Expo – a networking opportunity for students to connect with nine entrepreneurs and 11 resource provider, and learn about entrepreneurship opportunities from University departments, student organizations and local community partners. The event was hosted by the Academic Advising & Career Centre and The Hub, U of T Scarborough’s entrepreneurship incubator.

Among the exhibitors was the Management and Economics Students’ Association (MESA). MESA represents the academic and program-related concerns of students in Management. It builds connections between UTSC students and the business community through competitions, information seminars, programs and skill building sessions.

One of the University’s departments that partook in the event was the UTSC Library. The UTSC Library offers Makerspace – an innovation lab where students can create physical prototypes, design apps and use specialty software.

A community partner present at the expo was Enterprise Toronto – the City of Toronto’s leading experts in starting and growing a small business. The organization provides free assistance to entrepreneurs and small businesses across Toronto, offering one-on-one business consultations, research assistance, business forums and weekly seminars, among other services.
