IAH CGUA - HISTORY

 

The Commission on Groundwater in Urban Areas (CGUA) was formed in Oslo 1993, by David Lerner, the founding Chair. n September, 1997, David Lerner (d.n.lerner@sheffield.ac.uk) the Chair of CGUA stepped down after four very successful years. Ken Howard took the role of Chair and Matthias Eiswirth beacme Co-Chair. Tragically, Matthias and his young son were killed in an avalanche during late December, 2003. The Commission was dissolved on June 30th, 2011 and re-emerged the next day as the Urban Groundwater Network.

It is one of eleven Commissions supported by the International Association of Hydrogeologists. Others include:
