Format of the Front Page File

The front page file is an XML file with a special header. For the most part, it looks just like an ordinary HTML page, but it will have special entities (shown as &symbol;) expanded into their definitions.
• These include mathematical character names (e.g. ½ -> ½ )
• and the name of the archive (&archivename;).
• for more details see the file entities-en.dtd in the archive configuration directory.

Editing the Front Page

You can safely remove any of the features that you don't want users to be able to access (e.g. Registration)
• You can add extra HTML tags, but don't forget that XML parsing rules apply:
• all opening tags must be matched with closing tags,
  • .e.g. <p>This paragraph must be closed!<gt>
• empty tags (e.g. <br></br>) can be rewritten as e.g. <br/> ,
• all attribute values must be quoted (either with single or double quotes)
  • .e.g. <img align="right"/> not <img align=right/>
• all tag and attribute names must be in lower case
  • .e.g. <br/> not <BR/>

You can also add image tags to provide logos
• but the images should actually be stored in ../general instead of the current language directory, as they are language-independent.
