Art is to a large extent about creating alternative reality and so it is not surprising that many artists have embraced digital media to create and explore "virtual reality". But to what extend do computer and programming constraint artistic imaginations and practices and what new possibilities do computers offer the artists that were not available before? At the same time, digital technologies are transforming the other medium that has long been associated with providing viewers an escape from reality, the cinema. We will explore the interplay of art, cinema, and the virtual, and exam the impact of "digitality" and "virtuality" on the art of storytelling.
