Best practice for reducing the effect of unconscious bias includes education. Everyone has biases, including individuals from under-represented groups. To determine how best to reduce effects of bias, it is important to acknowledge that it exists. It is just as important to realize that these effects can be reduced, and doing so is desirable because the result is stronger, more inclusive and productive teams, and institutions that are more fair and transparent overall.
