Abstract: Artificial Intelligence is a transformative technology that is changing the way we live and work. In this talk, I will give a brief overview of AI, recounting some of the recent and expected advances in the field. I will also discuss the role humans should and can have in shaping AI systems so that they are interpretable, accountable, and aligned with human values.
 
Sheila McIlraith: Professor, Department of Computer Science, University of Toronto, CIFAR AI Chair, Vector Institute, and Research Lead at the Schwartz Reisman Institute for Technology and Society. McIlraith's research is in the area of AI sequential decision making broadly construed, with a focus on human-compatible AI. McIlraith is a Fellow of the ACM and the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI).
