Message from Acting Vice-Principal Academic & Dean Andrade

As many of you know, on Friday, September 27th  youth from across the Toronto area will be gathering at Queen’s Park to express the urgency of addressing climate change. This rally is hosted by #FridaysForFuture Toronto, which is inviting adults to join with young people from across the city as they strike in support of the movement led by Swedish teenager Greta Thunberg.

Students from across the University of Toronto are joining the rally, and participating in other events meant to educate about the climate crisis, consistent with the University’s commitment to providing leadership in this area.  Here at UTSC, students are invited to attend a climate change teach-in on Wednesday.  Many students and others in our community have expressed their support for this protest.  I have asked instructors to provide flexibility for students who do not attend class on Friday in order to participate in the rally.
