COVID-19 Program & Service Updates

While we have made some adjustments to how we are delivering our programs and services during the COVID-19 pandemic, we want you to know that the Office of Student Experience & Wellbeing and all of its departments are available to support the academic and personal success of all students.

Health & Wellness Centre

The Health & Wellness Centre remains open with some changes to how we provide our health and counselling services. Prior to coming in person, for any reason, we advise students to call the Health & Wellness Centre in advance.

  • Call 416 287-7065 or email health-services@utsc.utoronto.ca to book, reschedule or cancel an appointment
  • Same Day Counselling, Nursing and Doctor appointments are available virtually, by phone or, if needed, in-person appointments can be booked by calling or emailing
  • Embedded counsellors in academic departments also available by phone and/or video (via Microsoft Teams)
  • Virtual counselling groups are available (via Microsoft Teams). Full schedule: https://www.utsc.utoronto.ca/studentexperience/online-programming

If an in-person appointment is required, students will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms over the phone prior to the appointment and before entering the Health & Wellness Centre. Please wear your mask at your in-person appointment. (Note: Due to limited supply, we do not provide masks unless you are being seen by a clinician in the centre).

Inernational Students who are studying from their home country or outside of Canada, and do not have UHIP may connect with the Health & Wellness Centre for the following services and support:

  • Book an appointment with a counsellor:
    • Personal Counselling (for coping advice, support and referrals to resources - please note: psychotherapy is not available without UHIP)
    • Groups
  • Book an appointment with a Nurse:
    • Nutritional Counselling
    • Sexual Health Counselling
    • Other general nursing advice (within the scope of care), support and referrals to resources

Note: Appointments with a physician or therapy are not available without UHIP. 

The Health & Wellness Centre is available for UTSC students who have been emotionally impacted. Please call us at 416 287-7065 if you need immediate support or download My SSP App for online chat or phone counselling support.

International Student Centre

All appointment types can be booked through CLNx. Please specify in the NOTES section whether you want the appointment to be by Skype (include your SkypeID), Zoom or by phone (include your phone number). If you have difficulty booking an appointment online, please email isc@utsc.utoronto.ca

  • 1:1 immigration advisor appointments will be available by Skype/Zoom or by phone
  • 1:1 UHIP appointments will be available by Skype/Zoom or by phone
  • International transition advising will be available by Skype/Zoom or by phone
  • Global learning advising appointments for students applying for future activity or returning from abroad will be available by Skype/Zoom or by phone
  • All University activity abroad is cancelled up to and including August 14th. Further information can be found on the Vice Provost, Student's website
  • Regular programming (information sessions, workshops, etc.) is now being conducted online. Please register through CLNx

Student Housing & Residence Life

Student Housing & Residence Life remains open through a hybrid of in-person and virtual office hours.

  • In-person Student Housing & Residence Life office hours are: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 9:00am-12:00pm and 1:00pm-5:00pm 
  • Virtual Student Housing & Residence Life office hours are: Monday and Friday from 9:00am-5:00pm (Available by phone and email)
  • The Residence Centre Mail office is open Monday to Friday 1:00pm-5:00pm
  • We encourage residents to reach us by phone: 416-287-7365 or email: residences.utsc@utoronto.ca with questions or to book virtual appointments with Residence Life Coordinators
  • Counselling in residence will continue virtually. Appointments can be booked through the online webform
  • Programming is available for current residence students. Check your email for the weekly Residence newsletter and follow us on social media

Centre for Teaching & Learning

The Centre for Teaching and Learning continues to offer student programming during the COVID-19 pandemic, with some modifications for online learning:

  • Writing Support: For the remainder of the term, all writing tutorials will be offered online. If you wish to book, cancel, or attend a writing tutorial, please go to https://utsc.mywconline.com/
  • Math and Stats Support: CTL Math and Statistics Support now provides online tutoring for students enrolled in first-second year mathematics and statistics courses at UTSC. Look online for math and or stats homework, exam help, and to connect with a live, professional tutor at https://www.utsc.utoronto.ca/mslc/virtual-tutoring
  • English Language Development Support: Support is still available for students. If you wish to book an ELD Virtual Consultation, or have questions about how to improve your English language development using our online resources, please visit https://www.utsc.utoronto.ca/eld/
  • Facilitated Study Groups: If your course has an FSG, it has moved online to Quercus. Please check your email for a Quercus invitation to join the FSG associated with your course.

Please note that all CTL student supports are available exclusively online and remotely in Fall 2020.
