Student Housing Advisory Committee
The Student Housing Advisory Committee (SHAC) provides residence students with the opportunity to share their opinions and ideas with Student Housing & Residence Life at UTSC. This committee is critical in providing feedback on matters that include services, resources, programming, policies, budget, and departmental priorities.
The committee is composed of the following people:
- Two UTSC Residence Council representatives
- Two first year residence student representatives
- One upper year residence student representative
- One Residence Life Team representative (e.g., Resident Advisor, Resident Engagement Facilitator)
Student Housing & Residence Life will endeavor to fill every representative on the committee, however vacancies may exist due to lack of interest.
Anyone interested in sitting on the committee is asked to submit a nomination on the SHAC Nomination Form, no later than September 24, 2020 @ 11:59pm.
For all representatives that are not acclaimed, a voting process will be schedule to open September 25, 2020 and close at midnight on Monday, September 28, 2020. The winning representative will be the person with the greatest total votes. If necessary, an email with voting instructions and candidate statements will be sent to the residence community on September 25, 2020.
The committee begins in September and ends in March. Meetings will typically be held once a month. The exception is October and November when more frequent meetings are scheduled to support the budget consultation process and are outlined below. Note: All meetings will be conducted virtually.

Provide feedback on the Residence Life Experience Survey
This annual survey provides residents with an opportunity to provide feedback regarding satisfaction with various aspects of the residence experience. The feedback is incorporated into the goals and actions of Student Housing & Residence Life.
All residents are encouraged to raise any concerns they have about their residence experience. Residents can write an email or request an appointment to meet a staff member in person. Emails and appointment requests will be directed to the appropriate staff person.
