Quercus Introductory Overview

The CTL Ed Tech team offers an introductory workshop providing an overview of Quercus; brief intro to course migration options; basic aspects of sandbox use (logging in, adding content); open lab time and Q&A.


Quercus – Assignments & Grading
Thursday, October 18 – AC221, 10 – 12

Types, ways to add assignments (calendar, assignments links, modules), assignment index page, assignment groups + weights, Turnitin, Rubrics, peer reviews, group assignments (groups and group sets), extra credit assignments will be explored in this session. Speedgrader, gradebook view, sections/tutorials, arranging columns, entering grades, analytics, annotation tools, media comments, student gradebook (predicting scores, exploring feedback, etc) will all be demystified. Bring your questions!


Quercus – Designing Courses
Friday, November 2, AC221, 10 – 12

In this session we’ll explore different styles of pedagogy and how they are reflected in Quercus blended learning designs. Topics will include the course home page, course navigation, Modules/Text Headers, Naming conventions, Embedded content in pages versus links to files, design tips in content pages, content selectors in places with rich content editors (links, files, images) etc. Emphasis will be on how these stylistic communications design methods are being used to reinforce specific strategies around pedagogical design.
