President: Rashmi de Silva Wijeyeratne (2023-2024)

Rashmi is a fourth year at UTSC specializing in Psychology with Co-op. She is a thesis and work-study student at the TEMPO Lab. Her hobbies include singing, dancing, performing in musical theatre & theatre productions, travelling, hiking, babysitting, being an emergency medical responder, photography and skating. While an avid lover of the Arts, she is in pursuit of a career within the field of Healthcare which she is extremely passionate about. She is honoured to have the opportunity to grow the Psi Chi Society’s presence at UTSC this year!

 

 

Vice President: Muhammad Ansar (2023-2024)

Muhammad is a 5th year student at UTSC double majoring in neuroscience and psychology, with a minor in biology. He is very passionate about environmental advocacy work and is a huge advocate for education equity within Canadian schools and school boards. Outside of Psi Chi, Muhammad is extensively involved in extracurriculars at UTSC including serving as an emergency first responder and executive director at EMRG while also working as a facilitated study group leader and an Invigilator. He loves to cook, read and spend time with his friends/family and is looking forward to an amazing year ahead.

 

 

Vice President of Initiatives: Solomon Tse (2023-2024)

Solomon (Solo) is a 4th Year Psychology Specialist (Co-Op) + Biology Minor student at UTSC and serves as Psi Chi’s VP of Initiatives for the 2023-2024 Year. He loves engaging in and discussing various types of media (such as gaming, film/tv, anime, music and art+photography). In turn he uses the skills he developed from his passion and academics to pursue learning more about how people develop in relation to media and technology. He’s excited to be able to help service the Psi Chi Society in creating events to support their growth as Psychology students

 

 

Director of Communications: Katerina Ikonomakis (2023-2024)

Katerina is currently a 3rd year student specializing in Psychological and Health Sciences with Co-op at UTSC. She is passionate about mental health, teaching, and clinical research. She couldn’t be more excited to be a part of the Psi Chi executive team for this academic year and looks forward to growing our chapter to help fellow students gain experience that will help them grow professionally and personally in the future.

 

 

 

 

 

Faculty Adviser: Blair Armstrong, Ph.D.

Prof. Armstrong is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology.  He teaches courses related to psycholinguistics and the cognitive neuroscience of language, including LINB19, PLIC55, and PSYC59.  He was undergraduate in the precursor to the Psychology Department at UTSC many years ago.

 

 

 

Faculty Adviser: Kyle Danielson, Ph.D.

Prof. Danielson is an Assistant Professor (Teaching Stream) and Associate Chair, Undergraduate in the Department of Psychology. He teaches a range of general psychology and human development courses, including PSYA02, PSYC21, PSYC24, PSYD20, and PSYD98, the thesis course in Psychology. Prof. Danielson comes to UTSC Psychology from UBC Psychology, where he completed his Ph.D. and worked as a faculty member for one year. He was the faculty adviser for Psi Chi at UBC in 2016-2017.

 

 

Founding Faculty: Michael Souza, Ph.D.

Prof. Souza is an Associate Professor (Teaching Stream) in the Department of Psychology. He teaches a range of courses (e.g., PSYB57, PSYC50, PSYD50, PSYD66) and is involved in working to improve the student experience in the department in a range of ways. He joined UTSC Psychology in 2016 after spending six years as a faculty member at UBC, including founding the second Canadian chapter of Psi Chi at UBC in 2011.

 

Founding Staff: Hanan Domloge, M.Ed.

Hanan was the Program Manager in the Department of Psychology until 2021, responsible for overseeing the operations of both the graduate and undergraduate units. She leads a dynamic team who together, successfully deliver quality programming and services to over 2,500 students and 30 faculty members.

 

 

 

Founding Alumnus: Filippo Raso

Filippo is a proud alumnus of UTSC (’14, Neuroscience and Political Science) and is currently in his final year at Harvard Law School. He strove to improve the student experience during his time at UTSC, holding various student leadership positions, including President of the PNDA, Psychology Director of the SCSU, and student representative on the UTSC Campus Council. Working to start this chapter of Psi Chi was his attempt to connect students with the international psychology community.
