The COVID-19 Pandemic has amplified the existing inequities in our community; we’re all in the same storm, but in different boats.
Participants in the first half of the Summit (5-7PM) will be encouraged to talk about their lived experiences, highlight the challenges specific to their neighborhoods, and work as teams to discuss solutions and develop questions for their elected officials.
The second half of programming (7-9PM) will invite all three levels of government to respond to questions posed by community groups and advocates present. In attendance: Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness and MP for SSW The Honourable Bill Blair, Critic for Early Learning and Childcare and MPP for SSW Doly Begum, and Chair of the Budget Committee for the CIty of Toronto and Councillor for SSW Gary Crawford.
If you require any accommodation or assistance, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 416-936-3975 (M-F, 9-5).
This virtual event welcomes community organizations and advocates to discuss systemic issues that give rise to poverty, inequity, and hunger and the potential solutions. Following the discussion, all three levels of government will join the Zoom call to answer questions posed by different community groups. The remainder of the summit will offer the audience a chance to speak directly to decision makers.
