As you know, the university had to make the difficult decision to cancel in-person ceremonies in June. However, as our President announced, we will be conducting a virtual convocation on or before June 2, with in-person ceremonies to be held when it is safe and appropriate to do so.
The virtual convocation will include the core elements of a convocation ceremony, and those of you who are graduating will be conferred your degrees in absentia. We will then send your diploma parchments to you by courier in the weeks following the virtual convocation.
Please know that we share in your disappointment about this disruption to an event that is one of the highlights of your university experience. This is an occasion that we all look forward to every year. When the time is right, and we can again safely gather as a community, we will hold a celebration of your achievements, hard work and sacrifices. This will include many of the elements you would expect from a traditional convocation, including academic regalia, congratulatory remarks from academic leaders, a graduation speaker, and presentation of the graduates.
An update regarding regalia rental and the academic procession will be posted when more information is available. In the meantime, If you have any questions please contact Tracy Torres-Mo (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Kathryn Millard (email@example.com) or 416-208-5157.
