Research Interests

The research program at my laboratory focuses on environmental fungi (e.g., in aquatic systems) and host-microbe interactions. We seek to understand the genetic make-up of fungal symbionts and how they have adapted to diverse environments over evolutionary timescales. We use fungi and insects as model organisms to study adaptation, evolution, organismal interactions, and host specificity by integrating comparative -Omics approaches with traditional phylogenetic methods.
