DESC V - 5th Doctoral Environmental Science Colloquium

This year’s Colloquium will take place Thursday May 2nd and Friday May 3rd, 2019 and will be held at the University of Toronto Scarborough Campus. The Colloquium is an important event on the DPES calendar. It provides a forum for our community to catch-up on all the exciting work being conducted by our labs and doctoral students; and provides an important opportunity for our students to practice presentation, communication, and public speaking skills.

The abstract submission deadline is Thursday April 11th, 2019 at 11:59 pm. In order to be eligible for the best presentation financial awards (determined by faculty & student judges), your abstract MUST be received by this date. Maximum abstract length is 250 WORDS (not including the title, author list, and figure caption).

The submission of a figure such as a process flowchart, photo of fieldwork, principal
results graph, chemical structure, etc. is strongly encouraged and does not impact your abstract word count. Please avoid color images, as the abstract booklet will be printed in black and white, and limit the length of text figure captions.

DPES Staff Award

The DPES award aims to recognize a staff member who displays superlative professionalism, impeccable efficiency, and love for the department. We want to identify individuals who (without self-promotion) contribute to the daily operation of the department. The award is valued at $300 and the recipient will be honored at the annual DPES end-of-term function. Any member of our administrative and technical personnel is eligible for this award. (The same individual could be recipient of the DPES Staff Award for multiple times).

Nominations must be received by May 29, 2019 for adjudication by the selection committee (consisting of the Chair, the Graduate Chair, the two Associate Chairs Undergraduate and Research, the three Discipline Representatives, and two members of our administrative/technical personnel).
